The City Council collaborates with the National Police in the II Solidarity Race ‘Route 091’, to benefit the Association ‘Paula and the marrow factory’.

The City Council of Estepona collaborates one more year with the National Police in the organization of the Solidarity Race ‘Route 091’, which next November 9 will celebrate its second edition in the city. On this occasion, the sporting event will benefit the Association ‘Paula and the marrow factory’, an organization committed to the care of sick children and their families, promoting research and collaboration for the development of treatments for leukemia.
The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano; the Commissioner, Head of the Local Police Station of Estepona, Santos Lázaro Martín; the director of the Costa del Sol Area of Banco Santander, Juan Manuel Ballesteros, as well as representatives of the association ‘Paula and the marrow factory’, have presented this second edition of the race, for which the registration period is already open.
The alderman has highlighted the work that this association does in the city, helping children with cancer and their families; and recalled that last year received the Institutional Award, within the XIX Estepona Social and Solidarity Awards granted by the City Council of Estepona, for its project called ‘Donate marrow and blood and you will be my hero’, aimed at primary school students, and that addresses the issue of bone marrow donation from education for health and education in values.
Route 091 is a series of solidarity races organized by the National Police throughout Spain. Registrations can be made through the official website www.ruta091.es. The deadline will end on November 5, 2025 at 23:59 hours, or when the maximum number of participants is reached. The registration fee is 12 euros in the adult category, both in the running and walking categories; and 10 euros in the children’s categories up to 12 years of age (inclusive). There is also a Solidarity bib, called ‘Dorsal 0’, through which a voluntary donation can be made.
The children’s race will start at 10:00 am from the Mirador del Carmen. The maximum duration of the race will be 40 minutes, at which time it will be finished. Participants up to 6 years old will have a distance of 300 meters, and from 7 to 12 years old, 800 meters.
For its part, the adult race and race walk will start at 11:00 am from the Mirador del Carmen. The route, 4,600 meters and a maximum time of one hour, will run along the Avenida de España, Calle Teatro, Malaga, Terrazo, Lozano, Antero and Arroyuelo, Paseo Marítimo Pedro Manrique, Pasarela del Puerto Pesquero and Paseo de Don José Fernández de Garrido, to the starting point.
The collection of bibs will take place at the SATE office of the National Police, located in the Casa de Las Tejerinas, in the Plaza de Las Flores, on Friday, November 7, from 08:00 to 14:30 hours, and on Saturday, November 8 from 10:00 to 14:00. On the day of the race, Sunday, November 9, bibs will be handed out at the starting area, at the Mirador del Carmen, between 08:30 and 09:30 hours. Along with the bib number, a ‘runner’s bag’ will be handed out, which will include the official technical T-shirt of the race, the size of which will be chosen at the time of registration. At the time of picking up the race bib it will be essential to present the personal ID of the registered runner. In the case of registered minors, they must present a photocopy of their parent/guardian’s ID card with the parent/guardian’s signed authorization in order to pick up their race bib.
