Students of the Municipal Sports Schools will travel this Thursday to Riogordo to participate in the XXVI Meeting of Seniors in Sports of the Provincial Council.

This activity aims to promote active aging, coexistence and physical activity among the senior population, and the fight against unwanted loneliness. In total, 2,148 seniors will participate in the six days planned, spread throughout the province.
Estepona City Council reports that a representation of students from the Municipal Sports School for Seniors of El Carmen Sports Center and the Active Participation Centers, will travel this Thursday, November 13, to the neighboring town of Riogordo, accompanied by two municipal technicians, to participate in the XXVI Meeting of Seniors in Sport organized by the Sports area of the Provincial Council of Malaga.
The activity aims to promote coexistence and active aging through sport, and the fight against unwanted loneliness, and will bring together a total of 2,148 people from 63 municipalities in the province in the six meetings to be held between the months of October and November.
The program started last November 6 in Alameda and will continue throughout the month in different parts of the province: El Burgo (November 11), Riogordo (13), Humilladero (18), Alozaina (20) and Torrox (25).
Between eight and 15 municipalities participate in each of the meetings. The participants, in groups of twenty people, rotate through a circuit of activities that includes games with rackets, baskets and balls, exercises with weights and balance, skill and coordination courses. After a break, there is a group dance activity and strength exercises with elastic bands, and the day ends with breathing control and relaxation exercises.
The participants in this program are people over 60 years of age registered in the municipal programs of physical activity for the elderly and, once a year, they have the opportunity to attend these provincial meetings, which also serve to promote social relations between neighbors from different municipalities in the province.
