A hundred tennis players will participate next week in the women’s tournament Estepona Open Diputación de Málaga

It will be held at the Bel-Air Tennis Club facilities and will bring together professional players from all over the world.

The Estepona Town Hall informs that the second edition of the ITF Estepona Open Diputación de Málaga, a tournament of the international women’s tennis circuit of absolute category scoring for the WTA ranking (women’s world ranking), will bring together a hundred tennis players of 18 nationalities. The event will be held next week -from May 20 to 26- at the facilities of the Bel-Air Tennis Club in Estepona.

The vice president and deputy of Sports, Juan Rosas, has presented the second edition of the tournament along with the provincial delegate of Tourism, Culture and Sport of the Junta de Andalucía, Gemma del Corral; the councilor of the City of Estepona and provincial deputy Salome Hidalgo; the tournament director, Sergio Gómez-Barrio; the vice president of the Andalusian Tennis Federation, José Domínguez, the CEO of Global Racket, Omar El Founti and the player Victoria Gómez.

Juan Rosas stressed that support for this tournament is a further demonstration of the commitment of the Provincial Council with women’s professional tennis in the province of Malaga and Andalusia. And he added that these international sporting events allow to give great visibility to the province, which is fully consolidated by its magnificent facilities and its organizational capacity.

In addition, Rosas has valued the joint collaboration between public administrations and private sponsors so that Malaga hosts every time high-level sports competitions in different modalities.

Gemma de Corral, pointed out how important it is for the Andalusian Government to be able to host and retain sporting talent in the region as a driving force for the tourism and sports industry.

For his part, Sergio Gómez, highlighted the high level of participation and the quality of the players who will participate in the second edition of the event.

The tournament will have a preliminary phase of 48 players, which will begin this Sunday, and from Tuesday will start the matches of the final singles draw (32 players) and the doubles category (with 16 pairs participating). These matches will start at ten o’clock in the morning.

On Friday 24, in the afternoon, around four or five o’clock, the doubles final will take place; on Saturday morning the individual semifinals will begin and on Sunday 26 the grand final will be held from noon onwards.
