Cabaj takes the throne of the women’s tennis tournament Estepona Open Diputación de Málaga

It was held at the Bel-Air Tennis Club facilities and brought together professional players from all over the world.

The Estepona Town Hall informs that the second edition of the ITF Estepona Open Diputación de Málaga, a tournament of the international women’s tennis circuit of absolute category scoring for the WTA ranking (women’s world ranking), already knows its new champion. The Swedish Cabaj Awad will not forget her week at the ITF Estepona Open Diputación de Málaga after winning in singles and singles.

The event was held at the Bel-Air Tennis Club in Estepona, which conditioned its facilities to put the icing on the cake for a new edition of its women’s tournament.

This ITF championship is in the W15 category. For more than a week many of the best rackets of the women’s circuit and of different nationalities have been enjoying themselves in Estepona. In the final there were no Spanish representatives, but a great duel was expected to know the champion between two players who had shown a great level of tennis during all their matches.

The two protagonists were Gillan and Cabaj Awad. The British player was the great revelation of the tournament and arrived after beating the top seed, Kulikova, in the semifinals in two sets. On the other side was Cabaj Awad, who had gone from strength to strength in the tournament and had not lost any set, showing her best version. It was the first clash between the two and one of the two would be champion in this edition of the W15 ITF Estepona open Diputación de Málaga. It should be remembered that the Swedish had also won the doubles title on Friday so she could achieve the double.

From the start the Swedish player was very solid and with very clear ideas. Her few errors and high pace of balls were imposed on a Gillan who had started more erratic than in the previous days. The nerves of the final were present during the first games. Cabaj Awad took advantage of this and without major problems by 6-2 took the first set. The crowd tried to encourage the British tennis player. Gillan responded and little by little the tension was removed.

Cabaj Awad closes the double of titles

Gillan was able to play one on one with the big favorite in the second set. Everything was more even and the Briton gave the feeling that she had the weapons to stop the potential of her rival. On the other hand, the Swede held and was very calm. Cabaj Awad waited for her moment. In the end she took her chance and thanks to this by 6-4 she raised her arms to achieve the double trophy title in Estepona in a week that she will not forget after her high performance at the Bel Air Tennis Club facilities.
