Casa de Las Tejerinas hosts an exhibition of paintings by Argentine artist Nora Andrea Ghirlanda

The opening will take place on Thursday, June 20, at 6:00 p.m., and can be visited until July 10 with free access.

The Estepona City Council informs that the Argentinean artist Nora Andrea Ghirlanda will show her latest pictorial works in a solo exhibition in Room 2 of the Casa de Las Tejerinas, located in the Plaza de las Flores, whose inauguration will take place next Thursday, June 20, at 6:00 pm.

The exhibition consists of a collection of 10 large format works made with acrylic on canvas technique, and 12 other small format works on canvas on passepartout, with natural dyes on canvas (Botanicart series) and on watercolor paper (Natura series). They can be visited until July 10, from Tuesday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with free access.

Nora Andrea Ghirlanda was born in Quilmes, Buenos Aires (Argentina) in 1967. She is a Visual Arts Teacher and Graphic Designer. At the age of 23 she made her first trip to Italy, the land of her ‘nonos’. There she made a study trip to the museums and churches of several Italian cities. She made another trip to Italy and Paris in 1997, and in 2002 she moved for a year to live in Acitrezza, Sicily, a place that inspires her art.

The search for her roots and spirituality has always been within her, beating as the primary engine of her life. Through art and especially painting, she expresses these feelings, sensations, emotions, experiences, memories… From that connection with her self and her emotions, visceral and passionate, she understands painting and visual expression.

She has participated in several group exhibitions and received several mentions. In 2010 she held two solo exhibitions at the Cultural Center ‘El espejo de Delfos’, in Recoleta, Buenos Aires: ‘Recuerdos de otra Vida’ and ‘Expocolores’, for the benefit of the Garrahan Foundation. In 2017 and 2018 she made two 2 solo exhibitions with more than 30 paintings in each of them at the Casa de la Cultura de Quilmes, Buenos Aires.

Her work can be found in several countries such as Argentina, Switzerland, Italy, Uruguay and Spain.

She worked as a graphic designer for several years in Argentina as well as in Italy and Spain. She has worked as a teacher of Plastic Arts Education for 20 years in schools in Buenos Aires. She designed and edited the magazine Italia Espresso in 1999/ 2000. Magazine of cultural interest Italoargentina. In 2022 she illustrated, designed and edited a book of Haiku ‘Instantes’, with 26 illustrations in Chinese ink.
