City Council modifies Carnival program due to rain forecast
All activities will be held on Saturday at the Plaza del Ajedrez. If weather conditions prevent it, the events will take place at the Felipe VI Auditorium.
The Estepona City Council informs that it has made changes to the Carnival program due to the forecast of rain for the weekend.
The main modification is that all planned activities will be held on Saturday, February 10 in the Plaza del Ajedrez. In case weather conditions prevent it, the different events will be moved to the Felipe VI Auditorium.
The planned program is as follows:
Saturday 10:
– 12:00 hours: Children’s Party ‘CHIQUI POP’, with the performance of an Animation Group, and costume parade for the election of Adult NINFA (100 euros) and Child Nymph (100 euros), Adult MOMO GOD (100 euros) Child MOMO GOD (100 euros), BEST ADULT DISGUISE (100 euros), BEST CHILD DISGUISE (100 euros) and BEST GROUP DISGUISE, formed by participants of any age (300 euros).
– 14:00 hours: Performance of COMPARSAS AND CHIRIGOTAS.
– Comparsa de La Linea: ‘LA MONEDA. Direction, Daniel Morales Lebrón; lyrics, Fco. Javier Morales Ortega; and music, Ricardo Puyol González.
– Chirigota of Estepona/San Pedro ‘MARÍA DEL MONTE’. Direction, Alberto Benítez Láinez; lyrics, José Miguel Mata del Río and A. Benítez Láinez; and music, José Mata del Río, A. Benítez Láinez and José Juan Pastrana Fernández.
– Comparsa of Marbella: ‘LA JOYA’. Direction, Antonio Quiñones ‘Nono’; lyrics, Andrés Benítez; and music, Antonio Quiñones ‘Nono’.
– 18:00 hours: Traditional ‘ENTIERRO DE LA SARDINA CON LAS PLAÑIDERAS’ at La Rada beach (Correos area). The procession will leave from the Plaza del Ajedrez.
The Estepona Town Hall encourages everyone to participate in costume as a group or individually, thus giving more joy and color to the Carnival.
