El Jardín de los Poetas Andaluces’ in Estepona incorporates the Sevillian artist Manuel Delgado Pereira
This central passage dedicated to Andalusian poets now has a bust and some verses by Delgado Pereira, who was a friend of such renowned authors as Vicente Aleixandre and Antonio Gala.
The Estepona City Council reports that ‘The Garden of Andalusian Poets’ of the city is expanded with the addition of the Sevillian writer and painter Manuel Delgado Pereira.
This central passage dedicated to the letters now has a plaque where some verses of Delgado Pereira and a bust of the author himself are collected.
Manuel Delgado, who was friends with such outstanding authors as Vicente Aleixandre and Antonio Gala, has dedicated part of his professional career to recovering and highlighting Andalusian poets who had to leave our land.
With an important training in declamation, Delgado Pereira has stood out for his works in which he combines poetry with painting and where Andalusia and Spain have special prominence.
‘The Garden of Andalusian Poets’ was created by the Consistory in 2017 to pay tribute to Andalusian authors who had excelled in the field of letters. In that space, which connects the streets Mario Vargas Llosa and Jesús Cautivo, several busts were installed so that these figures are present in the walk that people who go into the old town of Estepona make.
