Estepona City Council announces six scholarships for training in the Municipal Band for a total value of 9,000 euros.
The bases of the call have been published today Tuesday in the Official Gazette of the Province of Malaga (BOPMA). The young performers will be able to rehearse and gain experience as musicians with the band during the period between March and August 2024.
The City Council of Estepona announces six scholarships for young people for the development of a theoretical and practical musical training program in the Municipal Band. The bases of the call for these scholarships have been published today Tuesday in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOPMA), and it may apply to musicians of Spanish nationality or national of a Member State of the European Union, between 16 and 24 years, provided they have completed the elementary grade in the Music Workshop of the Municipal Band of Estepona or any other school or music workshop. It is also required to have been, at least, one year in practice in a music band and not to have enjoyed the same scholarship in previous calls. Based on this call, the Consistory will allocate this year an allocation of 9,000 euros in these scholarships for young musicians to train as performers for a maximum period of six months, between March and August 2024.
This training project, which was launched in 2020, offers scholarship holders both theoretical and practical classes and the opportunity to perform in concerts with the Municipal Band. The training activities to be developed by the scholarship holders are the following: Piccolo (1 student); Flute (1 student); Clarinet (1 student); Alto Saxophone (1 student); Trumpet (1 student); and Flugelhorn (1 student).
The students will have a theoretical-practical training schedule of six hours per week, divided into two-hour collective training sessions, three days a week, in the Music Workshop of the Municipal Band.
Interested parties may submit applications at the Electronic Headquarters of the City of Estepona https://estepona.sedeelectronica.es/dossier.4 (General Instance), at the City Hall Entrance Registry and at the Post Office, among others. The deadline for submission of applications, along with the required documentation, will be ten working days from the day following the publication of the extract of this call in the Official Gazette of the Province, BOPMA.
The scholarships will be awarded through a competitive process, and taking into consideration the documentation provided in the application.
The Estepona Music Band is one of the oldest ensembles in our country. It was founded in 1940 and since then it has been performing uninterruptedly in the city. The concerts they offer during the summer season have become one of the most deeply rooted cultural events in the municipality. In addition, the Municipal Band is responsible for the musical accompaniment of the most important official and institutional events.
