Estepona hosts the III Sea-Coast Open ‘Playas de Estepona’ of sport fishing, which will bring together participants from all over the country.

The test will take place on Sunday, October 6, from 09:00 hours, on the beach of La Rada, between the river La Cala and La Escollera.

The councilman attached to the delegation of Sports, Luis Gil, and members of the Club Amigos de la Pesca ‘Playas de Estepona’, Manuel Ruiz Rendón and Francisco Rodríguez, today presented the III Open Sea-Coast ‘Playas de Estepona’ sport fishing to be held on Sunday October 6 on the beach of La Rada.

The municipal responsible has highlighted the attractiveness of this test for fans of the art of fishing, as well as the high participation expected for this year, since as a novelty, will have a national character and attract fans from all over the country. It has also valued the charitable nature of this activity whose participants can collaborate by delivering 2 kilos of non-perishable food, which will go to Caritas.

For their part, representatives of this local fishing club have highlighted the success of the two previous editions of this event, which was born with the aim of promoting the sport of angling from the shore, called ‘surfcasting’, while serving as a reference for future competitions at provincial, regional and national levels.

The test will start from 09:00 hours and will run until 13:00 hours, on the beach of La Rada, between the river La Cala and the beach of La Escollera, with a maximum of 80 participants. The bases will be those of the Andalusian Federation of Sport Fishing and the Spanish Federation of Fishing and Casting.

According to the program, after the end of the competition will be carried out the collection of catches, which will be transferred to the Municipal House of the fairgrounds, where they will be weighed around 14:00 hours.

The prizes will be a trophy and 1,000 euros for first place, and a trophy and 500 euros for second place. Also, the largest piece will be given a Serrano ham and, as in previous years, the ‘Lady Award’ has been established with the intention of encouraging female participation. The rest of the participants will receive gifts in order of position obtained, until stocks last. Also, at the end of the awards and gifts, there will be a raffle of a kayak among all participants, courtesy of the establishment Nautica and Droguería Ramirez.
