Estepona joins the European Days of Archaeology with free guided tours to learn about the historical heritage of the city

The City Council and the Department of Culture of the Junta de Andalucía have organized for this weekend routes through the historic center and the dolmens of Corominas open to the general public, with prior registration.
The City Council of Estepona joins this coming weekend to the celebration of the European Archaeological Days with the organization of guided tours to publicize some of the areas with greater historical value of the city.
The Consistory and the Ministry of Culture of Tourism, Culture and Sports of the Junta de Andalucía have organized for Saturday 15 and Sunday June 16 a series of routes through the historic center and the Dolmens of Corominas. These visits are free and open to the general public, upon registration.
For Saturday 15 is scheduled to visit the historic center of Estepona, including the Castle of San Luis, the Roman Tower of Villa Street and the Archaeological Museum. It will depart at 10.00 am from the Plaza Blas Infante. The capacity is limited to 25 places and those interested can register by sending an email to: patrimonio@estepona.es.
On Sunday, the activity focuses on a guided tour of the Dolmens of Corominas, five unique prehistoric burial monuments in Andalusia. The route will start at 11.00 am from the Parque de los Pedregales. In this case the number of participants has also been limited to 25, who must make a reservation in advance by sending an email to: info@dolmenesestepona.com.
The European Archaeology Days were conceived by the French Ministry of Culture through the National Institute for Preventive Archaeological Research (Inrap). Currently its celebration has spread throughout Europe and in Andalusia are promoted and coordinated by the Ministry of Culture of the Junta de Andalucía.
They aim to promote and disseminate the archaeological heritage. The aim is that all the protagonists related to archeology work so that the greatest number of people discover this rich heritage. In this year’s edition in the province of Malaga emphasis is placed on the heritage values of our broad culture, ranging from prehistory to Christianity through the Phoenician, Punic, Iberian, Roman and Islamic. In this journey through the history and archeology of Malaga has prepared a comprehensive program that aims to be an important experience for the whole province by providing the public access to museums, archaeological sites, interpretation centers and specialists who will tell these great stories of the cultural past of the Malaga territories.
