The councilor attached to the delegation of Festivities, Macarena Diánez, and the main actors Luis Mottola and Arantxa Minguens, today presented the play ‘The Submarine’, which will be performed at the Felipe VI Auditorium on Friday June 28 at 21.00.
Adapted and directed by Carlos Olalla, miLUZAZUL produces this acid, black and corrosive comedy by Brazilian playwrights María Carmen Barbosa and Miguel Falabella, with original music by Juan Antonio Simarro.
El Submarino’ deals with a subject that touches everyone: the confusion in relationships. And it does so in a cheerful and carefree comedy tone, but without floating on the superficial. On the contrary, between guffaws and guffaws, love, and the couple with it, sinks without remedy, heading towards the bottom and dragging us down with it.
Why do Rita and César love each other, but especially when they are apart, why can’t they stand each other when they are together, is living together really the best playground for love, how does the passage of time affect our relationships? And honesty… is it really good to tell each other everything?
All these questions are contained in the show. As the good theater that it is, it does not include the answers, but it does include an invitation for us to look for them… if we can stop laughing.
The 2024 version of ‘The Submarine’ is also a journey through time. In a new world of equality, feminism and diversity, this proposal goes a step further and adds a tinge of unreality, encapsulating the action in a secluded, closed and suffocating space, like that of a submarine sailing underwater, and creating distance between today and yesterday.
