Nearly a hundred young athletes participated on Sunday in the last race of the XXVI Provincial Cycling Circuit Diputación de Málaga for Schools

The last meeting of the Rally BTT Schools Estepona 2024 was held in Los Pedregales, with the help of the C.D. Union Virgen del Carmen.

Estepona City Council reports that nearly a hundred small bikers participated Sunday in the XXVI Provincial Cycling Circuit Diputación de Málaga, in the form of MTB Schools, held in the Parque de los Pedregales; spectacular circuits proposed by the C.D. Union Virgen del Carmen in collaboration with the consistory. This competition was the last and decisive scoring test, after having traveled a total of twelve municipalities distributed by much of the geography of Malaga, thus ending the season of schools of the provincial circuit.

At 11:00 am the starting signal was given to the gymkhana test for the little ones, an activity of skill that would take place throughout the morning directed and energized by monitors of the club.

After the pertinent recognition of the circuits and warm-up by all participants, the first round of competition took place for the beginners and promising, who had to face a course of 890 meters on uneven terrain but very fun and with few breaks. The leader of the promising category did not want to miss the party to score a new victory as a result of a firm commitment to go out at full throttle from the first meters. Hugo Sepúlveda (C. Polideportivo Mijas) showed an extraordinary capacity of suffering to not let escape this very tight victory decided almost over the finish line. Meanwhile, her teammate Eider Jurado (C. Polideportivo Mijas) took advantage of the absence of the leader of the category to get a clear victory in women and thus culminate a brilliant season. On two laps of the same course the beginners competed with victory for a stellar Marcos Gallardo (C.D. Viking Bike Torremolinos) who after a titanic effort beat Óscar Pascual (C.D. A.C.I.C.) on the same finish line in a long and disputed sprint. In women, vibrant competition whose victory was finally decided in favor of Alejandra Heemskerk (C.D. Viking Bike Torremolinos) in a last attempt to attack the highest positions of the general classification.

Finally, the fry and children would dispute on a route of 1,400 meters. Three laps for the fry and five for the children were the estimated and proposed by the technical jury. Category victory for Miguel Salvador Corrales (C.D. Unión Virgen del Carmen) in a race that he dominated from start to finish with an imposing pace of competition. Corrales thus presents his candidacy for next season’s circuit with a great sporting growth in a test in which he was able to keep the pressure of the pursuit of the leader Daniel Lopez (Vas Trabuco School). For his part, Jimena Olmedo (C.D. Lagóstena Team) obtained a well-deserved victory with a time of 19 minutes and 06 seconds to leave sentence the general classification.

As for the children’s race, again José Infantes (C.D. Los Tope Gama) won in a day in which he gave no respite to his rivals from the first lap with a frantic pace of race to finish his participation with a record of 23 minutes and 40 seconds, ahead of the second classified in more than 3 minutes of difference. Similarly, great triumph for Amalia Vizcaíno (Klimatiza – Torcaldent – Makinón) who has completed a great season in order to inaugurate a new category next season.

The awards ceremony was chaired by Luis Miguel Gil, councilman attached to Sports, and Juan Baeza, president of the Club Deportivo Unión Virgen del Carmen.

The XXVI Provincial Cycling Circuit Diputación de Málaga comes to an end in this way with the goal of having managed to initiate a large number of young people in the sports field while they have been put in value a lot of precious values linked to cycling: effort, responsibility, companionship, solidarity, ability to overcome, work and perseverance.
