One of the largest gardening associations in Andalusia recognizes Estepona for the protection and enhancement of its green spaces.
The City Council receives for the fifth time the highest award in the ‘Andalucía en Flor’ awards granted by the Multidisciplinary Association of Andalusian Gardening (AMJA).
The City Council of Estepona has received for the fifth time the highest award given by the ‘Andalusia in Bloom’ awards, presented by the Multisectoral Association of Andalusian Gardening (AMJA) to cities that are committed to green management and the health of its inhabitants. This is one of the most important groups in the sector in Andalusia.
The deputy mayor of the area of Services and External Control, Blas Ruzafa, stressed the importance of this recognition in relation to the work carried out by the Consistory to achieve an increasingly sustainable and environmentally friendly city.
As explained by the councilman, Estepona has been awarded for its positive evolution in terms of the extension and quality of its green areas, for the implementation of plans and specific measures aimed at sustainability, with special emphasis on the rational use of water, phytosanitary treatments, green waste management and soils and substrates. In addition, the implementation and development of educational and environmental awareness programs, as well as cultural, recreational and participatory programs in the framework of parks and gardens has been recognized.
Ruzafa has highlighted the importance of this award received by this non-profit association that is formed by leading professionals in the gardening sector of the various Andalusian provinces. He also expressed that for the Consistory is “a pride” that industry professionals have considered that, once again, “Estepona is among the greenest cities in Andalusia for its good management in urban green infrastructure, for its public awareness and for its sustainability, education and environmental respect.
The municipal responsible has stressed that the gardening of Estepona has become one of the hallmarks of the city in recent years for its special care, originality, beauty and sustainability.
