Success of Estepona’s chess players in the Provincial Championship of Minors, U-8 to 16
The Federated Mixed Junior Championship was held last weekend at the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos, with the participation of 16 clubs from all over the province.
The Estepona City Council reports that the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos hosted last weekend the Provincial Chess Championship for Minors (U-8 to U-16), organized by the Villa de Estepona Chess Club (CAVE), with the collaboration of the Estepona consistory and the Malaga Chess delegation.
The Villa de Estepona Chess Club reaped numerous and extraordinary sporting successes in this competition, both in male and female category, finishing the Championship as the second club in the province of Malaga with more awards:
In U-8 category, Noa Aragón Ramos was proclaimed Champion of Malaga, and Salvador Valadez Cervantes, managed to rise to third place overall, with 4.5 points out of a possible 6, thus completing a great tournament in which he was at all times in the places of honor.
In the U-12 category, David Galiano Puertas, was proclaimed Champion of Malaga, undefeated with 5.5 points out of a possible 6.
Finally, in the U-14 category, Remedios Sofia Maldonado Mena was proclaimed Champion of Malaga and third classified in the overall category of the tournament.
For its part, the Municipal Sports School of Chess was represented in all categories, both male and female. The players played a great tournament, highlighting the participation of Marta Camacho Valadez, who was second in the U-14 category, and Eva Flores Pavón, third in the U-12 category.
The organization of the Villa de Estepona Chess Club highlights the great sportsmanship of all participants, and congratulates the new provincial champions, while wishing the best of success to all the Malaga delegation that will move to dispute the Andalusian Championships.
