The Casa de Las Tejerinas will host the first exhibition of paintings by José Antonio Mechán.
The opening of the exhibition will be on Friday, February 9, at 6:30 p.m., and it will be open to the public until February 21.
The Estepona Town Hall informs that next Friday, February 9, at 6:30 pm, the exhibition of paintings ‘Oil and Acrylics’ by José Antonio Merchán will be inaugurated in Room 2 of the Casa de Las Tejerinas, located in the Plaza de las Flores.
Personally, he considers himself a self-taught painter who “is learning with each of his works”. His paintings range from acrylics to oils, charcoals and watercolors. In this first exhibition, the painter shows a total of 18 works of different formats and themes, such as portraits, landscapes and emblematic buildings like the Cathedral of Malaga or the Alhambra, among others.
The exhibition can be visited until February 21, from Tuesday to Friday, from 09:00 to 20:00 hours, and Saturdays from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00 hours, with free access.
José Antonio Merchán Martín was born in the town of Yunquera in Malaga in 1977. According to him, “love made me change town, Casarabonela, which welcomed me with open arms and where my two children grew up”. Currently, he lives in San Luis de Sabinillas for work reasons.
From a very young age, when he was only 10 years old, he was fascinated by how a neighbor from Yunquera painted, whom he liked to go and see. Since then, his hobby grew and, over the years, his paintings improved.
In 2013 he took a Tattoo Techniques course in Seville, whose techniques “made me improve a lot in the lights and shadows of my paintings,” he points out.
