The City Council announces the III Sports Merit Awards that will distribute 20,500 euros among the best local sportsmen and women in 2023

The deadline for submitting applications is April 30.

The Estepona City Council has announced the third edition of the Sports Merit Awards, through which 20,500 euros will be distributed among athletes registered in the city who have obtained results in any of the official competitions during 2023, in the various modalities recognized by the Superior Sports Council.

The Consistory has promoted this initiative with the aim of supporting local athletes, offering them more means so that they can continue to increase their technical level, contribute to the progression of performance and consolidation of high-level sport and competition at regional, national and international level.

As set out in the rules of this call, may be awarded the athletes who are registered in the city since at least January 1, 2023; who have a license in force of any Andalusian or Spanish sports federation since January 1, 2023, in the sporting specialty in which sports results are presented; and performing a competitive sport of any sporting specialty that is Olympic or is recognized by the Consejo Superior de Deportes.

Three award categories have been established: runner-up of Andalusia; champion of Andalusia or runner-up of Spain (or higher: Europe, World or international competition); and champion of Spain or higher: Europe, World or international competition.

Those interested can consult the rules on the Notice Board of the City Council Web, where you can also download the application form and see the documentation to be attached and the different ways through which you can submit the application. The presentation period will be open until April 30.

In the last edition, these economic awards were given to a total of 45 athletes, thus rewarding their efforts to remain in the sports elite and for their contribution to the promotion of Estepona.
