The City Council awards more than 288,000 euros in grants to social groups working in Estepona

In addition to this direct aid, the Consistory has unlimited social emergency funds to ensure that all citizens have their needs covered.

The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, today delivered the financial aid that the City Council grants annually to associations and groups that have developed various projects to assist the most vulnerable groups in the city.

The alderman thanked the representatives of the various entities for the work they do and said that “Estepona would not be the same without the work they do to help those most in need”.

It has also advanced that the municipal budget for 2024 will continue to have a strong social character, setting as one of its main objectives the attention of people with more difficulties, so that “no one will be left without their basic needs to be covered”.

The social entities that have received municipal aid for 2023 have been: Association of Disabled of Estepona (ASDIES), Red Cross, Parkinson Sol, Volunteer Platform, Association of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Frente Bolillón, Multiple Sclerosis Association, Association of Relatives of Alzheimer’s patients, Diocesan Caritas, Association of Mentally Disabled of Estepona (APRONA), Peñas Blancas Women’s Association, Cudeca Foundation, Association of Victims of Autism, Social Dining ‘Emaus’, Motoclub ‘Onde Vamos’, Foundation ’24 Hours Sports’, Estepona Solidarity, Alcoholics Rehabilitated and Association ‘Friends of Cats’, as well as the various Brotherhoods and Guilds of the municipality.

In addition to financial aid, the mayor has referred to the support provided by the Consistory in other matters, such as collaboration in solidarity events organized by these entities and the free transfer of municipal facilities for holding charity events.

The Consistory also gives a rebate on the Real Estate Tax (IBI) to social groups that have their own premises and provides fiscal support to those who have fewer resources.

Likewise, the Town Hall continues to pay for the Telecare service and allocates more than 300,000 euros to cover the ordinary expenses (electricity, water, electricity or cleaning) of entities such as the Virgen del Carmen Home for the Elderly, the ‘Emaús’ soup kitchen or the Association for the Mentally Handicapped of Estepona (APRONA).
