The City Council celebrates a new edition of the activity ‘Spring of stories for equality’ to educate on these values and prevent gender violence.

It will start this Friday, April 12, at 18.00 hours, at the Mayor’s Office of Cancelada with the story ‘Ni más, ni menos’ (No more, no less).

The City Council of Estepona informs that this week will begin the third edition of the activity ‘Spring of stories for equality’, a cycle of storytelling through which aims to prevent gender violence and promote education in values with special attention to equality, with the elimination of sexist stereotypes that encorsetan both women and men.

The cycle, which will take place in the ‘Multipurpose Room’ of the Mayor’s Office of Cancelada and in the Children’s Room ‘Elvira Lindo’ of the Municipal Library, located in the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, consists of four storytellers for children and families:

Cancelada. Mayor’s Office

April 12, at 18:00 hours: ‘Neither more nor less’.

May 10, ‘Out monster. Stories against gender violence’.

Estepona. Children’s Library

April 26, ‘Las princesas rebeldes también cuentan’, all by Alicia Acosta and Natalia Jiménez, from ‘Cientacuentos cuentacuentos cuentapiés’.

May 24, ‘Acacia y el viento y otros cuentos’, with Olga López de Lerma. Story by Mercedes Martín Alfaya, winner of the 2nd Prize in the ‘Contando en Igualdad’ Contest in 2008 of the Community of Madrid.

‘Primavera de cuentos por la Igualdad’ is an activity financed by the Andalusian Institute for Women of the Department of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality, with funds from the State Pact against Gender Violence of the Secretary of State for Equality and against Gender Violence of the Ministry of Equality.

This initiative is a continuation of the line of work being developed by the Municipal Women’s Information Center in the fight against gender inequality, with actions to raise awareness among the general public.

Attendance at the storytelling will be free until full capacity is reached.
