The City Council celebrates the 130th anniversary of the birth of cinema with a cinema concert and the screening of the film ¡Qué bello es vivir !

The event will be presented by international pianist and baritone David Geary, and will take place on Wednesday, December 17, at 7:30 p.m., with free access until full capacity is reached.

The Estepona Town Hall informs that this year marks the 130th anniversary of the birth of cinema. To commemorate this anniversary, next Wednesday, December 17, at 19:30 pm, will take place at the Centro Cultural Padre Manuel, a film concert of piano and singing presented by the international pianist and baritone David Geary, with free access until full capacity.

The American musician will be accompanied on piano by María del Carmen Pérez Blanco from Málaga. Together with singers Julio Peces Ruiz, Marina Ruiz, Miguel López, and María Rosa Pérez, they will perform immortal film songs such as ‘Casablanca’, ‘La La Land’ or ‘Cabaret’, among others.

This will be followed by a screening of Frank Capra’s film ¡Qué bello es vivir (1946). Considered one of the best films in the history of cinema, it is based on the story of The Greatest Gift, written by Philip Van Doren Stern in 1939 and which, in turn, is loosely based on the novel by Charles Dickens ‘A Christmas Carol’.

George Bailey (James Stewart) is an honest and modest citizen who runs and keeps afloat a small family bank, and whose intention to commit suicide on Christmas Eve provokes the intervention of his guardian angel, Clarence Odbody (Henry Travers), who shows George what life in his town would be like if he had never existed.

In collaboration with the Asociación Cultural y Cinematográfica de la Costa del Sol ‘Unicornio’, within the framework of the collaboration agreement with the Estepona Town Hall.
