The mayor of Estepona has chaired this meeting in which representatives of the National Police Corps (CNP), Local Police and Civil Guard, have established actions such as a reinforcement in surveillance services, increased presence in commercial areas and adoption of preventive measures.

The Local Security Board has ruled out the existence of criminal gangs or organized groups that are carrying out these robberies and has called for the tranquility of the neighbors.

The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, today chaired a Local Security Board that has been convened in an extraordinary way to organize a special security device in commercial areas on the occasion of the latest robberies that have occurred in the town center.

At the meeting, which have been representatives of the National Police (CNP), Local Police and Civil Guard, have been determined specific actions such as a reinforcement in surveillance services, a greater presence of troops in commercial areas, as well as the establishment of preventive measures in business. For the latter, agents of the National Police and Local Police will continue to hold meetings with merchants and neighbors to inform them about some actions they can take or take into account to prevent theft.

On the other hand, during the Local Security Board it has been ruled out that there are criminal gangs or organized groups that are carrying out these thefts in businesses. The people who have been arrested for the same are people with a history of minor offenses, repeat offenders and with problems of poly-drug addiction.

The representatives of the different Security Corps are also holding meetings with members of the judiciary to analyze the profile of these detainees and establish actions to prevent the proliferation of this type of crime.

Also, members of the National Police and Local Police have pointed out that these events that have taken place should not generate social alarm, so they have appealed to the tranquility of neighbors and merchants.
