The City Council installs a bridge over the Arroyo Dos Hermanas to further expand the coastal corridor
The wooden structure, 22.6 meters long and weighing 9 tons, is the most outstanding element of the new section that runs from Benamara to Playa de Baños.
The Estepona Town Hall informs that today has been installed the wooden bridge over the Arroyo Dos Hermanas to continue advancing in the coastal corridor project.
The new structure, which has been built by a specialized company in Asturias, has a length of 22.6 meters and reaches 9 tons in weight. Made of pine wood, the new bridge will become the most prominent element of the new section of path that runs from Benamara to Playa de Baños.
This section of the coastal corridor, which is being executed by Urinci S.L., has an investment of 344,511 euros (VAT included). Financed by the Plan de Sostenibilidad Turístico en Destino-Next Generation Funds, the new path also includes the construction of a 220-meter-long, 4-meter-wide, cobblestone-type printed concrete pedestrian path, which will start at the access to the beach via Calle Dorada.
With this new section, the coastal corridor project continues to advance after the recent completion of another path on the beach of El Cristo. This last one allows to cross, of uninterrupted form, the more than 17 kilometers that distance from Costa Natura to El Saladillo.
The Estepona coastal path is more than 90% completed, which means that there are more than 20 kilometers of coastline connected by these pedestrian sections. This initiative of sustainable urban development that connects the coastline is of great value because it has meant preserving this space and has enabled a new attraction for the municipality.
It should also be remembered that in the last two years five new stretches have been built: the one in the Arroyo Vaquero area; the one connecting the Laguna Village shopping center with Dominion Beach (with a length of 870 meters); a third stretch of 145 meters located in Riviera Andaluza; another one in front of the IKOS Andalucía hotel and the fifth one connecting this hotel facility with the Park Beach urbanization, which has a bridge of more than 60 meters over the Guadalmansa River.
