The City Council installs a new bridge in La Plata Bay to improve safety for walkers along the coastal corridor
The new structure replaces the existing one, dating from 2007, which was in poor condition due to the corrosive effects of the sea.
The Estepona City Council has installed today the new bridge in the Bahía La Plata section of the coastal corridor. The new structure replaces the one that existed until now and was in poor condition due to its age, dating from 2007, and the corrosive effects that due to its proximity to the sea had been suffering. This equipment is now safer for pedestrians, besides being more modern and better integrated into the coastal corridor.
The Consistory proceeded yesterday to the demolition and removal of the old bridge. The new one, which has meant an investment of 39,000 euros plus VAT, has been built by a specialized company in Asturias. It is 11 meters long, 3.5 meters wide and weighs 12 tons. It is made of pine wood. One of its main features is that it is made in one piece and has internal stainless steel hardware reinforcements.
