The City Council names Carlos Moreno ‘El Pulpo’ and José Luis Carrillo as Adopted Sons and recognizes the city’s business network at the Constitution Day ceremony.
The mayor pointed out that Estepona has entrepreneurs who, for decades, have contributed to generate employment and to the city having a committed, diverse and quality business network.
The City Council of Estepona has celebrated today the Constitution Day with an institutional act in which the mayor, José María García Urbano, stressed the importance of renewing the commitment to the Constitution, democracy and the regime of freedoms established in 1978. During his speech he appealed to the need for all of us to commit ourselves to recovering the spirit of harmony that guided the drafting process of the Spanish Constitution.
Likewise, the radio broadcaster Carlos Moreno Arribas, better known as ‘El Pulpo’, and the businessman of the tourism sector José Luis Carrillo have been named Adoptive Sons of the city in the institutional act that has been celebrated on the occasion of the Constitution Day in the Felipe VI Auditorium.
‘El Pulpo’, one of the most iconic radio voices of the national scene, was born in Madrid in 1974, but since the age of five is linked to our city. Since then he has witnessed its evolution and on numerous occasions has spread through the airwaves the affection and affection he feels for Estepona. The director and presenter of the program ‘Poniendo las Calles’ of Cadena Cope was last summer the pregonero of the Fiestas Mayores of Estepona and during his speech he made it clear that his ties with the municipality are enthusiastic and sincere.
In the case of José Luis Carrillo, owner of Globales Playa Estepona and Paraíso Beach, the Consistory recognizes him as part of the history of tourism and a member of an outstanding group of businessmen who knew how to see the opportunities in Spain and Andalusia. With more than 54 hotels in property and more than 4,000 jobs within his business group, his relationship with the Costa del Sol dates back to 1989. Since then, the company has not been disconnected from this area, and has also been involved in social and solidarity projects in Estepona.
On the other hand, during the ceremony, special mentions were given to local entrepreneurs who have promoted emblematic businesses in the city as the Carpentry Brothers Ramos, Gabriel Carmona of the Hotel Piedra Paloma, Hermanos Infantes Contreras, Antonio Rubiales of Calzados Rupi, Motos Hermanos Infantes, Francisco Galán of the restaurant ‘La Palma’, José Amores Gil of ‘Neumáticos Amores’, Rafael Aguilar and Jamena Construcciones.
The mayor stressed that these businesses represent the entrepreneurship that has been carried out in the city since the mid-twentieth century until the early decades of the XXI, and thanked them for their contribution to Estepona has today a diverse, committed and quality business network.
