The City Council opens the extension of the northern ring road to traffic
The works that have just been completed have widened Santiago de Compostela Street, which has been connected to the northern ring road and Camino Vereda de Los Frailes, improving traffic flow in the area.
Santiago Street now has two-way traffic, more than 400 square meters of green areas and twenty new parking spaces.
The Estepona Town Hall informs that the extension of the northern ring road is now open to traffic, after the works carried out in Santiago de Compostela street.
With the works completed, the traffic flow in the area has been improved since it has been proceeded to connect Santiago de Compostela street with the northern ring road and Camino Vereda de Los Frailes.
The new road that has been generated in this enclave and that runs parallel to Hidralia’s water supply tank, has an approximate area of 100 meters long, is enabled for two-way traffic of vehicles and has vegetation, electricity network and street lighting.
The works, which have had an execution budget of 213,071 euros (VAT included), have been undertaken by the company VGC GLOBAL SL.
The works have also contemplated the conditioning and enhancement of two green areas, which occupy an area of more than 430 square meters, and the creation of about twenty parking spaces. In addition, the pedestrian walkway that runs next to the water tank and connects Camino Vereda de los Frailes with Calle Vigo has been reconditioned.
The northern ring road around the city was inaugurated at the beginning of 2020, being one of the most important projects of the municipality in recent years. Its implementation involved the construction of nine roads, totaling more than 42,000 square meters of surface area and more than 1.6 kilometers in length.
This has made it possible to connect the Fair, Sports and Leisure Park, the Felipe VI Auditorium and the new Athletics Stadium with the northern part of Juan Benítez, linking up to the easternmost part of the urban center. All this has contributed to the fact that, with this new ring road, circulation and mobility in the city have been improved, creating a new ring road in the northern part of the municipality, which is an alternative to the existing one on Avenida Andalucía.
