The City Council organizes a conference on intervention in situations of risk and / or neglect of children and adolescents of Estepona
It will be held on Tuesday, May 28 and will be dedicated to education and healthcare professionals and law enforcement agencies.
Estepona City Council reports that next Tuesday, May 28, from 09.00 to 14.00 hours, will be held in Room 2 of the Felipe VI Auditorium Technical Conference: ‘Detect, notify and intervene in situations of risk / neglect in childhood and adolescence’.
The Deputy Mayor of the Sociocultural Area, Paula Herrera, says that this technical work meeting is convened with two main objectives: to guide professionals in the educational community, health and security forces in the town of Estepona and region on how to report possible situations of child abuse; and to inform professionals of the Social Services of the local authority of Estepona and region of the formulas for coordination with the Child Protection Service.
The Andalusian Child Abuse System (SIMIA) is governed by Decree 210/2018, of November 20, which regulates the procedure for action in situations of risk and neglect in childhood and adolescence in Andalusia . This regulation came into force on August 24, 2019, simultaneously with its two development Orders: the Order of July 30, 2019, approving the standardized form of the Notification Sheet of possible situations of risk and neglect in childhood and adolescence; and the Order of July 30, 2019, approving and publishing the Instrument for the assessment of the severity of situations of risk, lack of protection and neglect of children and adolescents in Andalusia (Valórame).
This set of regulations aims to regulate a unified procedure for the detection, notification, assessment and registration of cases in which there is evidence or suspicion of the existence of situations of risk or neglect, linked to the exercise of protection of minors by their parents, guardians or guardians.
The computer application SIMIA is the technological support from which this object is articulated, favoring in an outstanding way three main functions:
– The early detection of situations of risk and lack of protection, as well as their subsequent notification to the social services institutions (from the Local Administration for mild/moderate cases, to the Child Protection Service, for serious ones).
– Inter-institutional coordination within the Child Protection (sub)System, through the regulation of a set of communication procedures and the mandatory application of approved assessment instruments.
– The registry of the notified situations of risk/protection and their assessments, as a basis for statistical treatment that allows to evaluate and know the profiles of the situations of violence in Andalusia and its connection, at the state level, with the RUMI (Unified Registry of Child Abuse).
Since its implementation, it has been a journey in which it is fair to recognize the efforts made by the institutions involved in the protection of children: health, education, law enforcement, and especially the social services of the Local Administration and, at the regional level, the Child Protection Service.
The aim of this conference is to advance in the knowledge of the SIMIA procedure, favoring training and exchange among the actors co-responsible for the welfare of children and adolescents.
From the Territorial Delegation of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality of the Junta de Andalucía in Malaga, will attend as speakers: Antonio M. Jiménez Sánchez, head of the Prevention and Programs Department of the Prevention and Family Support Service of Malaga; and Gloria Naranjo Hidalgo, Social Worker of the Prevention and Family Support Service and technical responsible of the SIMIA Program in the province of Malaga.
