The City Council performs preventive cleaning and conditioning works in six rural roads.

The work has focused on repairing the road surface with the addition of gravel and compaction, and on removing accumulated vegetation to guarantee the correct circulation of rainwater.

The City Council of Estepona is proceeding to the arrangement of six rural roads in order to improve the road surface and the state of cleanliness of the same to ensure safety in the rainy season and provide the residents of these areas a better circulation and better access. These tasks are part of the Rural Roads Improvement Plan, which is active throughout the year.

It has already acted on the roads of Loma del Esparragal and La Cala (right bank), and in the coming days will intervene in El Castor (left bank), El Velerín and stretch that runs from La Alberdina to Castor. The works consist of the arrangement of the road surface with the contribution of gravel and subsequent compaction with the help of mechanical means such as motor graders, backhoes and roller.

In addition, the work also includes the formation of slopes and cleaning of ditches in order to achieve a better transversal and longitudinal drainage for an optimal circulation of rainwater to avoid possible flooding.

On the other hand, on the Los Altabacales road, the road will also be upgraded, although no gravel will be provided here. Obstacles will also be removed from the road and landslides will be stabilized for better accessibility.

These road cleaning works are usual throughout the year, according to the needs of each road. Also, complementing these works, for some months the Consistory has launched a campaign of clearing in the beds of about twenty rivers and streams to prevent fires and floods, in addition to improving the visibility and safety of drivers transiting these roads.

The municipal brigade of Agriculture is responsible for carrying out these tasks, which are executed preventively.
