The City Council presents the program of events on the occasion of the International LGTBIQ+ Pride Day

The activities, organized jointly with El Escenario, will begin this coming Saturday 22nd with the raising of the flag, a parade and the opening speech of the drag ‘La Camacha’.

The City Council of Estepona has presented the events organized with El Escenario Club on the occasion of the International Day of LGTBIQ+ Pride, which will begin this coming Saturday June 22 with a parade, flag raising and the proclamation that will offer the drag ‘La Camacha’.

The councilor attached to the area of Citizen Participation, Maria Aguilar, and representatives of El Escenario have detailed the full program of activities planned for this year, which also includes lectures and debates, reading of manifesto, a film forum, and a maxi solidarity bingo.

The program will begin this coming Saturday, at 20.00 hours, with the parade of the hand of El Escenario Club LGTB+ as a demonstration in defense of the rights of the collective. It will start from the fountain in front of the Athletics Stadium and will end at the Caseta Kopas at the Fairgrounds. Once the parade is over, the multicolored flag will be hoisted.

The finishing touch to this first day will be, at 20.30 hours, the proclamation of the drag ‘La Camacha’ from the balcony of the Caseta Kopas, kicking off the private party of Pride 2024 made by El Escenario Club.

The scheduled events will continue on the 27th with a talk on lgtbifobia, open to all audiences, which will take place at 20.30 pm in the bar El Escenario Club. Representatives of the collective will participate and will tell their experiences and actions in the fight for LGTBIQ+ rights.

For June 28, International LGTBIQ+ Pride Day, an institutional flag raising ceremony is scheduled to take place at 12:00 noon at the European Union traffic circle. At this same point will proceed to the reading of a manifesto to be performed by the drag ‘Debora Men’ and ‘La Camacha’.

From 18.00 hours will take place a film forum at the Centro Cultural Padre Manuel in which a film will be projected LGTBIQ+ theme.

The day will end with a Maxi Bingo Solidarity, from 20.30 pm, in the Plaza del Reloj, whose proceeds from the sale of tickets will go to the Spanish Association Against Cancer. It will be attended by the drag of El Escenario.

In addition, from Thursday 27 to Sunday June 30 will be illuminated some emblematic areas of the city with the colors that make up the rainbow flag.

The Councillor for Citizen Participation, Maria Aguilar, thanked El Escenario Club for the work it is doing in the municipality in favor of the LGTBI community and noted that the City Council of Estepona will continue to collaborate in initiatives that promote freedoms and diversity.
