The City Council tenders the beach and garden maintenance service for the next four years.

The Estepona City Council reports that it has tendered the maintenance service of beaches, green areas and gardens for the next four years. The deputy mayor of the area of Services and External Control, Blas Ruzafa, has indicated that the new contractor will be responsible for the conservation and maintenance of more than 16 hectares of green areas of the city, its 50 hectares of beaches, more than 21 kilometers of coastal corridor and more than 20,000 flower pots and floral elements.

The concessionaire will also be responsible for the care of the fifty children’s playgrounds in the town, as well as the management of the municipal nursery where almost all the plants and flowers that embellish the green areas of Estepona are produced.

Due to the increase in green areas to maintain that has taken place in recent years, the new specifications provides for an increase in the number of operators in 19. In addition, the strengthening of the service for the next four years will be accompanied by increased investment for machinery and the expansion of the fleet in 27 vehicles.

Blas Ruzafa explained that the city has been endowed with outstanding green areas in recent years as the Avenida España, the new park of La Hermandad or the environment of the Athletics Stadium, among others that are distributed by the town and the suburbs.

On the other hand, has indicated that the coastal corridor will be another priority in the new contract, which will have its own brigade for maintenance and tuning.

The base bidding budget for this contract, which will be valid for four years, is 48.4 million euros. Interested companies may submit their bids until January 4.

Finally, the mayor said that for the City Council of Estepona is a priority that the city continues to be known as the ‘Garden of the Costa del Sol’ and recalled that the excellence of its green areas have earned him numerous awards. He also noted that the optimal state of the beaches will continue to be set as another major objective because they are one of the main tourist attractions that the city has.
