The City Council will welcome Christmas on Friday, December 1 with the lighting of the Christmas lights.
More than 2,000 LED lights will be part of the Christmas lighting, which will also be installed in the new pedestrianized section of Avenida España.
The Estepona City Council reports that next Friday, December 1, will proceed to the lighting of the Christmas lights, which this year will feature more than 2,100 decorative elements.
As a novelty, this year will be dominated by white and blue decorations. In addition, new areas of the city will be decorated as the last pedestrianized section of the central avenue Spain, which is being executed at this time from Terraza Street to Andalusia Avenue.
To welcome Christmas, the Consistory has organized an event that will take place, from 19.00 hours, in the remodeled section of Avenida Spain, at the height of the perfumery Primor. The lighting of the lights will be enlivened by the pastoral of Estepona ‘Nostalgia Christmas’ and ‘Jesus Cautivo’, as well as by the little Martina Perez, who will perform some songs.
This year, will continue to strengthen the lighting of public spaces as busy as the gardens of the Botanical-Orchidarium Park, which will host various activities during the Christmas holidays, the Chess Square or the remodeled promenade.
In addition, Estepona will have two 14-meter fir trees that will be displayed in the gardens of the Parque Botánico-Orquidario and in the recently pedestrianized section of the Avenida de España. The other two, 12 and 10 meters high, respectively, will be installed in the Plaza Antonia Guerrero and in the Plaza del Ajedrez.
Also, a total of 114 arches of lights of 7 and 5 meters long, 333 ornamental motifs, 143 cords of 12 meters and 140 curtains and nets that will illuminate the trees of the main avenues of the municipality, as well as other spaces will be distributed in different parts of the city.
There will also be 10 ‘Merry Christmas’ signs and 11 almond trees of lights over 4 meters high located at traffic circles. In addition, a total of 85 motifs of led lights will be installed in the streets of the old town that have been remodeled within the project ‘Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol’ and 60 led curtains in the palm trees of the promenade.
The Consistory has been acquiring in recent years up to a thousand Christmas elements (curtains, nets, motifs and trees), thus avoiding cost overruns in the rental, assembly and contracting of these lights.
All the lighting uses LED technology, which means significant energy savings and shows the Consistory’s commitment to sustainability and environmental care.
