The Estepona City Council executes more than fifty improvement actions in educational centers during the summer period.
In addition to the usual maintenance work, larger works have been carried out, such as the installation of awnings, fencing of spaces, installation of bleachers or the movement of partitions for the preparation of schools and kindergartens.
The mayor, José María García Urbano, has visited the new artistic mural that has been painted on one of the facades of the CEIP Santo Tomás de Aquino.
The City Council of Estepona has executed, once again, the plan for improvement, maintenance and conservation of schools in the municipality taking advantage of the non-school summer period. During the summer months have been executed more than fifty actions of all kinds for the tuning of schools.
The City Council thus responds to the needs raised from the various schools, prioritizing those interventions that require greater speed, although all will be taken into account. Thus, work has been carried out in the 13 public schools in the city, in the Adult Center and in the five municipal nursery schools.
The mayor, José María García Urbano, and the Councillor for Education, María Aguilar, today visited the CEIP Santo Tomás de Aquino on the occasion of the start of the school year. Specifically, in this center have been made painting tasks, review of cornices and the construction of a wall to separate classrooms.
García Urbano has also visited the artistic mural that has been painted on one of the facades of this center and has made the graphic artist Bestror (José Enrique Ragel). The mural is entitled: Playing with the mind: El Ajedrez de la infancia. The Estepona City Council has collaborated in the realization of this large mural by providing materials and a crane that has facilitated the work of the young painter.
Among the main actions that have undertaken the municipal operational brigades during the summer months in schools include the arrangement or preservation of furniture, locksmith work, carpentry, plumbing or painting in classrooms or common areas, as well as the conservation of electrical and fire protection. Likewise, all the gardening was repaired during the second half of August to ensure that it was in perfect condition for the start of the school year. All this has been completed with larger works such as the installation of fences and bleachers, the replacement of toilets, the replacement of floors, as well as the placement of pergolas and awnings to create shaded areas.
This action plan, which began once the school year ended, is part of the work of comprehensive maintenance of schools carried out by the Consistory throughout the year, reaching over a thousand actions.
