The Estepona climbing wall will host this weekend the Andalusian Climbing Championship in School Age.

For his part, the director of the test and member of the Mountain Group of Estepona GRUME, Francisco Luis Jimenez Rodriguez, stressed that “this championship gives us an opportunity to promote this sport among children, also in an event with solidarity.

The Estepona climbing wall, the largest outdoor climbing wall in Spain, is located in the Fair and Sports Grounds and became operational last March. The activities are carried out by professionals from the Club Grupo de Montaña de Estepona (GRUME), a well-known entity in the municipality that has been training at the municipal climbing wall at the El Carmen Sports Center since 2005. This entity, which is registered with the Andalusian Federation of Mountain Sports, Climbing and Hiking, has a climbing school that will now be expanded with more workshops and courses in the new facilities.
The climbing wall-rocodrome has been designed for the following practices: difficulty mode, speed mode and bouldering mode. It has a complete surface of 662 square meters, divided for the practice of the different modalities foreseen in this discipline: speed zone (115 square meters), difficulty zone (363 square meters) and bouldering zone (184 square meters).
