The councilor has been awarded by the association Aehcos in the category of ‘Institutional representative of the public sector for its influence on tourism activity’.

The Association of Hotel Entrepreneurs of the Costa del Sol (Aehcos) has recognized the mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, for his contribution to the revitalization of the tourism sector. It has been in the framework of the XIV Aehcos Awards that were delivered last night under the theme ‘Promoting Sustainable Tourism’.

With these awards, entrepreneurs recognize each year to the best professionals in the sector throughout the province of Malaga. On this occasion they wanted to highlight the work being developed by García Urbano, who received the award in the category of ‘Institutional Representative of the public sector for its influence on tourism’.

The awards were presented last night at a gala held at the Automobile and Fashion Museum of Malaga, which was attended by institutional representatives of the Junta de Andalucía, the City of Malaga, the Provincial Council and Turismo Costa del Sol, among others.

The president of Aehcos, José Luque, congratulated the winners highlighting that this year has been awarded “the quality and service, but also the active contribution towards a more sustainable tourism model”.

In this sense, the mayor José María García Urbano thanked the recognition of the hotel businessmen and highlighted the commitment that the City Council has been making in the last 13 years for a city model based on sustainability and quality of life.
