The III Intercenter Solidarity Badminton Meeting of Estepona brought together 160 students
The event raised 600 € for the association of people with disabilities, AsDi-Es.
The Estepona City Council reports that the III ‘Intercentros Solidarity Badminton Meeting’, held last Friday at the El Carmen Sports Center, was attended by 160 students in 3rd and 4th of ESO from 6 schools in the town: IES Mar de Alborán, Mediterráneo, Puerta del Mar, Monterroso and Profesor Tomás Hormigo, and secondary students from the Juan XXIII School.
This activity, organized by the City Council, together with the UBUNTU Estepona Association, in collaboration with the participating schools, had the technical assistance of the Estepona Badminton Club and more than 30 high school students from IES Mar de Alborán who acted as judges and volunteers.
During the first three hours, each participating pair played the 5 matches corresponding to the group stage on the court assigned by the organization. The grand final was disputed by the pairs formed by :
– Ivan Mora Vázquez and Daniel Ríos Lorenzo from IES Puerta del Mar.
– Marco Neira Caballero and Diego Lopez Ortiz from IES Mediterraneo.
With a final score of 17-21, the victory went to the students of IES. Mediterráneo, Marco Neira Caballero and Diego López Ortiz.
At the end of the day Ubuntu delivered to ASDIES the proceeds (600 €) obtained from the registration and the sale of solidarity notebooks.
As a closing ceremony, the coach of the Badminton Club Estepona (Lucas Carmona), the representative of UBUNTU (Antonio Rodriguez), the president of ASDIES (Teresa Maria Paiva) and the president of AND (Alejandro Navarro), presented the trophies to the finalists, as well as some t-shirts as a gift from the Badminton Club.
