The mayor announces in plenary session the beginning of the process to obtain land for another development of 300 subsidized housing units in the area of Monterroso
The session reported on compliance with the Annual Economic-Financial Control Plan of the City Council for 2023.
It has been agreed to support the request of the Brotherhood of Carmen for the Andalusian Government to declare the festival of Carmen as a Festival of Tourist Interest.
The mayor of Estepona, José María García Urbano, announced in plenary session that the City Council has already initiated the administrative process to carry out a planning amendment to obtain land to be used for the construction of about 300 subsidized housing (VPO) in the area of Monterroso.
The councilor explained that this action is included in the VPO Plan promoted by the government team to facilitate access to housing for groups with greater difficulties. Specifically, he recalled that the Consistory made available, late last year, two municipal plots for the construction of more than a hundred subsidized housing in the area of Camino de Cortes, in the eastern part of the municipality.
The alderman has ratified the commitment of the government team with people and with the promotion of measures to help facilitate access to housing, recalling the powers of the supra-municipal administrations in this area.
He also regretted that the previous left-wing governments in the city sold all the municipal land for this type of housing to the developers of the developments of the partial plans, leaving the city without public land on which to build subsidized housing. Thus, he explained that “in the first opportunity he had since he was mayor to obtain land for VPO, the transfer of the same was made to enable the construction of 100 VPOs that were executed in the area of Juan Benitez.
In this sense, has expressed the commitment to continue promoting the procurement of plots for this type of housing in all new land to be developed urbanistically.
It should be recalled that those interested in accessing one of these homes must be registered in the municipal register of applicants for housing, which is located in the City of Estepona.
In another order of things, the session has accounted for compliance with the development of the Annual Plan of Economic-Financial Control of the City Council for 2023, which includes the actions of permanent control and public audit carried out during the year.
Also, the session has become effective the resignation of his deputy councilor of the number two of the municipal group VOX, Ana Gil, and the deputy mayor of the Economic area, José María Ayala, who leaves the Corporation to devote himself exclusively to his position as an Andalusian parliamentarian and comply with the criterion established by the PP in Andalusia that a person holds only one public office.
On the other hand, the Plenary has unanimously agreed to support the proposal made by the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Carmen Crowned of Estepona to request the Andalusian Government to declare the festival of Carmen as a Festival of Tourist Interest.
