Wendy Tong exhibits her pictorial work ‘El duende de los alcornocales’ at Casa de Las Tejerinas

The painting exhibition will be open to the public from October 2 to 15, with free access.

The Estepona Town Hall informs that Room 2 of the Casa de Las Tejerinas, located in the Plaza de las Flores, will host from October 2 to 15 the exhibition of paintings by British artist Wendy Tong, ‘El duende de los alcornocales’.

The exhibition can be visited from Tuesday to Friday, from 09:00 to 20:00 hours, and Saturdays from 09:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00 hours, with free access.

Wendy Tong was born in England in 1961. Coming from a working family, she had to start working at the age of 16 instead of attending art school, as was her dream.

After living and working in Spain for the past 20 years, she recently completed an online BA Hons degree in Painting with the OCA, Nottingham, UK (now part of the Open University).

Her first solo graduation exhibition, ‘The Alchemy of Landscape’, was held at Casa Henrietta, in the Cádiz town of Jimena de la Frontera, in February/March 2025.

All of Wendy’s work is inspired by the beautiful natural landscape surrounding Jimena de la Frontera, in the Alcornocales Natural Park, which she sees on her daily walks. Her goal is to describe the colors and patterns found there, and to walk the line between the abstract and the figurative, to show them.

Memory and feeling play an important role, and he seeks to show the intense colors he reacts to in the rocks and landscape. Some of his works are more representative than others. In general, his desire is to show this local landscape, seen from a slightly different perspective.
