Estepona City Council announces the III Outdoor Speed Painting Competition

The artists must perform on May 6 a pictorial work of landscapes or corners of the city between 09.00 and 14.00 hours. There is a first prize of 600 euros and a second prize of 300 euros.

The City Council of Estepona reports that next Saturday, May 6, will be held the Third International Contest of Outdoor Speed Painting ‘Estepona, Garden of the Costa del Sol’ for over 16 years.

The councilman attached to the area of Historical Heritage, Daniel Garcia, has indicated that this contest will again reward the best paintings inspired by the old town of the city. The theme will be related to any landscape, corner or motif of this enclave Estepona that can be identified.

As happened in the first two editions, participants may make their paintings from the artistic style they consider. The uniqueness of the test will be that they must execute their work in a period of approximately four hours. Participants will provide all the material they deem necessary for the development of the works.

The municipal responsible has explained that, although the technique used will be free, the pictorial support must be rigid and have a size of 50 x 70 centimeters. The frames or pictorial supports on which they will work will be sealed by the organization of the contest on the same day, from 08:45 hours, in the Casa de Las Tejerinas, located in the Plaza de Las Flores.

Each participant may stamp a maximum of two supports, but may only submit one work to the contest. At the time of sealing, the participant must submit a completed annex found in the rules of the contest, which can be consulted at www.estepona.es.

Once the contest has begun, artists may submit their works at any time at the Casa de Las Tejerinas, the deadline for submission being 2:00 pm.

The jury will be composed of people of recognized prestige in the artistic field. The jury’s decision will be announced at 3 p.m., followed by the prize-giving ceremony. The winning work will receive 600 euros and there will be a prize of 300 euros for the second runner-up. In addition, a diploma will be awarded to the first ten chosen participants. The two winning creations will become part of the artistic collection of the City Council of Estepona.

On the other hand, the Consistory will select several participating works to be exhibited in an exhibition to be held at the Casa de Las Tejerinas from 9 to 20 May 2023.

The mayor of Historical Heritage, Daniel García, invites those interested in art to walk the streets of the center that day, where they will have the opportunity to enjoy the whole creative process that involves a pictorial work.
