Estepona City Council reinforces its commitment to sustainability through the campaign #DonaVidaAlPlaneta (DonateLifeToThePlanet).

The campaign will offer information points on November 27 and December 11 to explain how to correctly recycle waste electrical and electronic equipment and take advantage of its resources.

The Estepona City Council will participate in the sixth edition of the Andalusian campaign #DonaVidaAlPlaneta, which aims to raise awareness among citizens about the importance of the proper management of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and encourage responsible habits that contribute to the protection of the environment. This initiative is promoted by WEEE Andalusia and driven by the Ministry of Sustainability and Environment of the Andalusian Regional Government, the Andalusian Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FAMP) and the Collective Systems of Extended Producer Responsibility.

In Estepona, the campaign will feature two information days open to the public:

- Thursday, November 27, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, at Plaza Antonia Guerrero.

- Thursday, December 11, from 10:00 to 18:00 hours, in Calle Real.

During these days, specialized informers will offer neighbors guidance on how to properly recycle their electrical and electronic equipment in disuse, as well as the different delivery routes available in the municipality. The campaign reminds that, through recycling, it is possible to reuse up to 90% of the materials present in these devices, avoiding the extraction of new raw materials and reducing the environmental impact.

The Councilor for the Environment, Ana Velasco, stressed that "Estepona's participation in this campaign is another step in our commitment to sustainability. We want to provide citizens with all the necessary information so that recycling their electrical and electronic equipment is a simple and everyday gesture." Velasco also stressed that "each WEEE deposited correctly helps to reduce pollution, promotes the reuse of resources and contributes to a circular economy model that generates new opportunities and green jobs". In this sense, the mayor recalled that the City Council will offer a 3% reduction in the garbage fee to people who recycle their waste at the clean point a minimum of 3 times a year.

The DonaVidaAlPlaneta campaign promotes the idea that every citizen can "donate life" to the planet by giving a second chance to WEEE through reuse and recycling, key elements of the Circular Economy and generators of green jobs. The initiative will tour Andalusia between October 2025 and February 2026 with activities in municipalities, universities and stores to bring this information to as many people as possible.

By joining this campaign, the Estepona City Council reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and calls for citizen participation to continue moving towards a more responsible and environmentally friendly urban model.
