Estepona programs more than fifty cultural and leisure activities to celebrate Christmas

The holiday program will begin on November 28, with the lighting of the Christmas lights and will end with the traditional Cavalcade of the Three Kings, on January 5, departing from City Hall. A Christmas Park with great attractions for children and families will liven up the festivities in the area outside the Felipe VI Theater.

The City Council of Estepona today presented the program of cultural, festive and leisure activities organized to celebrate Christmas.

The councilor attached to the area of Culture and Festivals, Macarena Diánez, explained that numerous appointments have been scheduled for the enjoyment of young and old, most of them free, in different points, cultural spaces, streets and squares of Estepona. There will be concerts, crib contests, façades, musicals, ballets, flamenco zambombas, children’s parties, solidarity events, gastronomic festivals, or the traditional New Year’s concert, ending with the Great Cavalcade of the Three Kings.

The activities will begin on November 28, at 7:00 pm, in the Plaza Antonia Guerrero, with the official lighting of the Christmas lights. The event will be enlivened by the Pastorals of Estepona ‘Nostalgia Christmas’ and ‘Jesus Captive’, and the performance of the singer Julia Fernandez-Llebrez, youth winner of the X Contest ‘Estepona CREA’24’.

One of the novelties this year will be the Christmas Park, which will have special prominence during the holidays. It will have an ice rink, Santa’s house, merry-go-round, bumper cars, ice slide, bouncy castles and a catering area, which will occupy the entire outdoor area of the Felipe VI Theater Auditorium. This area will be open from November 29 to January 4, from 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (on December 25 and January 1 it will be open from 11:00 a.m., and on December 24 and 31 it will be closed).

Among the performances at the Felipe VI Theater Auditorium, those designed especially for children’s audiences stand out. On the same day 28 will be represented the show of the Great Acrobatic Circus of China; The K-Pop Warriors, on 29; and the show ‘The Island of Maui: Tribute to Vaiana’ on November 30. The December shows will begin on the 5th with the Musical of the 80s and 90s; on the 7th, the Ballet ‘The Nutcracker’ will be performed; and on the 12th, the theatrical performance ‘A Doll’s House’ by Ibsen. The musical ‘Tadeo Jones. La Tabla Esmeralda’ will be on the 14th, and on the 19th we will be able to enjoy the new Christmas show of ‘Los Cantores de Híspalis’, who will be accompanied by the artist Natalia Calceteiro. The year will end on December 28, with a double performance of the Cantajuego ‘The Adventures of Coco and Pepe’, at 12:00 and 17:30.

Other of the most anticipated musical moments on that stage will be the traditional special Christmas concert that the Municipal Band will offer on Saturday, December 13, at 20:00 hours, under the direction of Maestro José Antonio López Camacho, with the accompaniment of the Magnum Mysterium Choir of Estepona and the Choirs of CEIP Sierra Bermeja and Atlas ASM School, and the XXIV Christmas Proclamation, which will be given by Macarena Arroyo Marín, Chief Anti-Drug Prosecutor of the Campo de Gibraltar.

Another outstanding enclave of Christmas will be the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses, from 5 to 7 December will be held the First Fair Outlet Factory Brands, where you can buy many fashion items at great discounts. It should be noted that 50% of the proceeds from the tickets, which will cost 2 euros, will benefit the Spanish Association Against Cancer in Estepona. Also, on Tuesday 16 will be held the traditional School Musical Meeting (Ticket: 1 kilo of non-perishable food, to benefit Caritas Parish of Los Remedios), and from 19 to 21, the Circus Bravo Aqua will present the show ‘Magic of Illusion’, a combination of magic, humor, light and adventure for the whole family.

As for cultural events at the Mirador del Carmen, on Thursday 11, at 20:00 hours, will be presented the book ‘Fundido a Negro’, the author Esteponero Julio Peces Ruiz, winner of the XXX Novel Award Ateneo Joven de Sevilla 2025. In the same space, on Friday 12 will perform the International Choir ‘Love to sing’, at 19:30 pm. On Wednesday 17, at 19:00 hours, there will be a cultural journalism workshop given by journalist and poet Braulio Ortiz Pole, who will also present his book ‘Hombres que dicen Aleluya’ on Thursday 18, at 19:00 hours.

On Wednesday, December 17, at 7:30 p.m., the ‘130th Anniversary of the Birth of Cinema’ will be celebrated at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center with a concert of piano and soundtrack singing conducted by baritone David Geary, and the screening of Frank Capra’s film ¡Qué bello es vivir! (1946).

As every year, returns one of the most anticipated gastronomic events for citizens, as is the Cheese Fair ‘Popi, Sabor a Málaga’, which will be open to the public from 12 to 14 December in the Paseíllo de la calle Real.

In the Plaza del Rocío will be held on Tuesday, December 16, the blessing and enthronement of the Child Jesus in the Municipal Bethlehem, at 20:00 hours, and the Estepona Flamenco Association ‘El Patio’ directed by Ana Fargas will present on Thursday 18, at 20:00 hours, a show with classic and popular carols in different flamenco styles, in the Plaza Antonio Gala.

The Plaza del Ajedrez will host the traditional ‘Santa Claus Christmas Village’, where children can have fun on December 21 in a party with artificial snowfall, bouncy castles, workshops …

Christmas will also be celebrated with several events in the suburbs. On Friday, December 12, at 18:30 hours, there will be a Christmas Zambomba in Cancelada, with tasting of sweets and chestnut toast, which will be enlivened by the Zambomba ‘With sugar and cinnamon’ and the Academy of Dance ‘Only Flamenco’ by Ana Guerrero. On Tuesday 16, will be held at the CEIP Ramon Lago Christmas Snack for the Elderly, at 18:00 hours, with the performance of ‘The Jubis’; and Wednesday December 17, at 18:00 hours, in the Tenencia de Alcaldía, will be held the traditional contest of typical Christmas sweets.

For its part, New Atalaya held on Saturday 13, at 19:00 pm, a Christmas Zambomba by the Coro Rociero ‘Canta Marbella’, and on Saturday December 20, at 19:30 pm, will take place the representation of the Living Bethlehem.

The events to say goodbye to 2025 will end on the 31st, from 23:00 hours, with the New Year’s Eve Party in the Plaza del Reloj, enlivened by the orchestra Q Gain and his Las Vegas style show. There will be free distribution of cotillion to welcome the New Year, which will be greeted with a fireworks display.

The program of Christmas activities will continue into the new year with the celebration of the Feast of the Three Kings. The events will begin on Saturday, January 3, with the delivery of letters to the Royal Postman in the Plaza Antonia Guerrero, from 17.00 to 20.00 hours, and will culminate on Monday, January 5, with a children’s party to welcome the Three Kings at the Fairgrounds, from 11:30 am, enlivened by the Magician Ruben and his show ‘Magic Christmas’, and the Great Cavalcade of the Magi. The parade of floats will start at 17:00 hours from the door of City Hall, on Avenida Juan Carlos I, and will end at the Plaza Antonia Guerrero, where children can deliver their letters to the Three Kings. In the neighborhood of Cancelada, the parade will leave at 17:30 hours from Montemayor Street.

The performances at the Felipe VI Auditorium Theater will start in 2026 with the traditional ‘Extraordinary New Year’s Concert’ of the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra, on Sunday, January 4, at 20:00 hours, under the direction of Maestro Darrell Ang, artistic director of the Sichuan Symphony. Finally, the presenter and humorist Paz Padilla will be in Estepona with the theatrical version of his book ‘The humor of my life’, on January 9 and 10, at 21:00 hours.
