Estepona will host one of the most decisive stage finishes of the Tour of Spain 2026

It will take place on September 11 and will have as its arrival point the Peñas Blancas Refuge.
Estepona will once again enjoy the Vuelta Ciclista a España live. The municipality will host the final stage in 2026. This has been moved today by the mayor, José María García Urbano, to representatives of Club Unión Ciclista Virgen del Carmen. Specifically, Estepona will host the high mountain climb to the Refugio de Peñas Blancas.
The alderman has pointed out that this will be one of the major sporting events in Estepona next year, and has detailed that the municipality will live one of the "decisive" stages of La Vuelta, which will take place in the third week of the competition; specifically, on September 11.
The Vuelta will pass through different parts of the province of Malaga and will enter Estepona from the area of Guadalmina, crossing several areas until facing the climb to Peñas Blancas.
"It is the best promotional event we could have, millions of people through media from up to 200 countries around the world will be able to contemplate Estepona from stunning aerial views, enjoying live all the natural environment of our municipality," said García Urbano.
On the occasion of this sporting event, the City Council is already working on the organization of various activities that will be experienced in the city for all citizens to participate in this event, as has happened on previous occasions when La Vuelta stopped or passed through Estepona.
The mayor thanked the organization of La Vuelta, and its general director, Javier Guillén, "to count once again with Estepona" and the Provincial Council of Malaga and its president, Francisco Salado, "because they collaborate directly to make it possible for Estepona to have this stage".
Thus, the Alto de Peñas Blancas, in the natural enclave of Sierra Bermeja, will once again surprise the peloton and cycling fans from around the world. This area became in La Vuelta Ciclista a España 2013 the first high finish in the history of the province of Malaga.
