‘El Rebalaje’ is the first Pulse and Púa Chamber group formed in Estepona. In 2016, on the beaches of Estepona, a group of people attracted by music met, who, using originally Spanish instruments (bandurrias, lutes and guitars), performed a wide variety of musical styles. They were joined by new members and instruments, such as the cello and the human voice.
It is currently formed by Diego Martín and Melchor Alarcón (bandurrias), Felipe Cobo and Karl Svensson (guitars), María Teresa Sánchez-Garrido and Ezequiel Martín (lutes) and Rosa Baeza (cello), and the singers Isabel Moreno (soprano) and David Geary and Karl Svensson (baritones), and the new collaborations of Brigitta Kovacs, harp and piano, and Laura Muñoz, violin.
Their repertoire includes traditional works of Spanish music for pulse and plectrum, as well as works by great composers of classical music, to modern music themes, soundtracks, Neapolitan, zarzuelas and other styles. Since 2018, they have performed solo or accompanied by other musical formations, such as the Magmum Mysterium Choir of Estepona, in places like the Interpretation Center of the Megalithic Necropolis of Corominas, the Plaza del Reloj or the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, in Estepona, in the Collegiate Church Sta. María la Mayor of Antequera, in Alquife, Granada, in Paterna del Río, Almería, and in the neighboring town of Casares.
In this concert, the group will perform a wide repertoire of works. Among others, the program will range from classical baroque pieces by Bach and Haendel, such as Gavota, Rondo and Sarabanda, and Waltzes by J. Strauss and Shostakovich, to works by Spanish composers, such as Tárrega and his famous Recuerdos de la Alhambra, Zarzuela pieces such as ‘El Coro de
Repatriated’ of Gigantes y Cabezudos, by Manuel Fernández Caballero, or Pasodobles such as Amparito Roca by J. Texidor, without forgetting ‘María la Portuguesa’ by Carlos Cano, and ending with the world premiere of ‘Andagietto’, by the guitarist and composer Vicente Solsona.

*This work is a fantastic gift of inspiration, delicacy and subtle musical aromas, with which the composer from Castellón, resident in Estepona, Vicente Solsona, gave us a gift enriching and enhancing the sonority and colors of our instruments, such as the bandurria, the lute and the guitar. It is interpreted in public in this concert, for the first time”.
