The City Council contracts for new bus shelters for bus stops

The new covered structures will be located in areas where they do not currently exist, and those that are already operational and have deficiencies will be replaced.
The Estepona City Council takes a new step to improve the urban furniture related to mobility in the city, and has awarded, after the relevant public tender, the acquisition of new canopies to be installed at the bus stops of the city buses. The initiative will make it possible to place these covered structures at the new bus stops where they do not yet exist, as well as to replace those already in operation and showing signs of deterioration.
The canopies supplied must meet certain conditions that were included in the tender specifications for their supply; among them, in addition to protecting users while waiting, they must provide information on transport, promote the use of public transport by image, use materials that minimize possible damage when violated or damaged, allow users sufficient visibility to see in advance the arrival of buses, as well as comply with current regulations regarding accessibility.
The deputy mayor of the area of Development, Infrastructure and Tourism (FIT), Ana Velasco, stresses that these facilities “improve the street furniture related to mobility, while addressing existing needs arising from the increase in the number of waiting points for users”.
In this first phase, seven bus shelters will be installed, once they are served by the company awarded the contract. The final award budget amounts to 53,231.4 euros (VAT included).
As regards the technical characteristics of the new shelters, they will be manufactured with a steel structure and seats made of four tropical wood boards with protective oil. These materials guarantee optimum resistance to the effects of corrosion. The walls will be made of tempered safety glass and the roof of laminated glass.
