The City Council gives new impetus to the Municipal Lighting Plan with the installation of solar streetlights on seven more roads in the suburbs

The initiative aims to improve visibility and safety in residential and peri-urban areas, while reducing energy demand and electricity billing costs.
The Estepona City Council has given a new impetus to the Municipal Lighting Plan, aimed at providing lighting to areas where it does not exist or is deficient, with the award of work to cover seven other public roads in the eastern part of the municipality. Specifically, solar street lights will be installed in the streets Caserío, Tolox, Alquería, Quintana, Masía, Urbanización Cortijo Casareño and Padre Luis García Cerezo.
These interventions are part of the municipal plan for the improvement and modernization of public lighting, which aims to provide different areas of the city with efficient, sustainable and low energy consumption lighting systems, using solar technology and LED luminaires.
The action has been awarded for a budget of 83,447 euros (VAT included) and an execution period of 46 days (between delivery of material and installation). In total, approximately 122 streetlights will be installed, distributed at a distance of 20 meters from each other.
The aim of this initiative is to improve visibility and safety in residential and peri-urban areas, while reducing energy demand and electricity billing costs. In addition, it advances the municipal commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability.
The Deputy Mayor for Services and External Control, Blas Ruzafa, emphasizes that “this project is another step in an ambitious plan of efficient lighting that will extend the lighting to different parts of the municipality, prioritizing sustainable solutions such as autonomous solar streetlights”.
Recently, the City Council has awarded the installation of streetlights in other areas of the suburbs, such as the streets Rosalía de Castro, Vereda de los Frailes, Camomila, Menta, Aloe and the Velerín-Hospiten road, and is working on new lighting for certain areas of the coastal corridor.
In parallel, the Consistory is already working on new actions planned for this year and next year, currently under study, with the aim of continuing to expand the network of efficient lighting throughout the municipality.
