The City Council informs about the free service for the collection of household goods and about the penalties for unauthorized dumping on public streets.

The Consistory explains that citizens have a free collection service through the app Green Line or telephone 951 70 38 49. They can also use the Punto Limpio and get rebates on the receipt of the garbage rate.

Every day, the City Council removes a daily average of 12.5 tons of this waste, which is almost 20 percent more than that collected during the past year. This problem generates significant damage to the environment, so that the infractions range from 2,000 euros to one million euros.

The Estepona City Council reports that it offers a free furniture and household goods collection service to citizens to ensure the cleanliness of public roads and avoid illegal dumps in the town center and the outskirts, which cause so much damage to the image of the municipality.

The Consistory explains that people who require a collection of furniture, household goods or appliances, can contact the municipal delegation of Cleaning through the Green Line app or telephone 951 70 38 49. The staff that attends these municipal services will indicate the date and time in which they have to deposit them on the public road for an organized collection. In this way, furniture and other belongings will remain on the street as little time as possible to avoid causing inconvenience to other neighbors, pedestrians and commercial establishments nearby.

The City Council also reports that every day an average of 12.5 tons of waste is collected daily in illegal dumps in areas far from the urban area, which is almost 20 percent more than those removed during the past year. This problem generates an important damage to suburban environments and to our environment, so we remind the penalties that involve this type of infringements. In the event that the abandonment of such waste is considered a minor infraction, the fine can be up to 2,000 euros. From 2,000 to 100,000 euros if it is serious, exceeding one million euros if waste considered hazardous is deposited.

In addition to the significant effort required by the municipal cleaning service operators, the Consistory points out that generating or using illegal dumps is detrimental to the neighbors living in the vicinity, as well as to the natural environment in which they are located. This lack of civility can also generate damage or safety problems for people who walk or circulate next to these illegal garbage dumps, since sharp objects, glass or bulky objects can be thrown there.

For all these reasons, the City Council considers it essential that citizens are aware that this type of illegal practices must be abandoned for the benefit of all, while encouraging them to use the free municipal services for the collection of household goods, furniture and bulky objects.

The City Council also recalls the option of depositing this type of waste at the Punto Limpio of Estepona. In this public facility can be deposited all those household waste that can be recycled, either by having a value as raw material and energy, such as the degree of danger that makes it can not be disposed of in conventional containers.

In addition, the Consistory applies a 3 percent reduction on the full amount of the garbage tax to those taxpayers who deposit in an authorized clean point, a minimum of three times a year, admissible waste for which there are no containers on the public road. This also contributes to recycling and the protection of the environment.

In order for this reduction to be applied, the interested party must apply annually during the first quarter of the tax period, and present the documentation that reports on the deposits made during the previous year. This will be done at the headquarters of the Patronato Provincial de Recaudación (C/Luis Braille, Puertosol building). In this sense, it will be necessary to present the existing standardized application form, a copy of the receipt of the Garbage Collection Tax of the previous year, and a copy of the receipts of each deposit, which will be delivered at the Punto Limpio with each contribution made.
