The City Council plans a fluvial path that will connect the Guadalmina river with the coastal corridor

The new river path, which will be 2.5 kilometers long, will allow the regeneration of the banks of the Guadalmina River with the planting of trees and wild species of interest.
The Estepona City Council informs that it is preparing the project for the construction of a river path along the Guadalmina River. It is a path parallel to the river that will be pedestrian and bikeable. The project foresees the construction of a path of almost 2.5 kilometers that will be connected to the Atalaya-Isdabe section of the coastal corridor.
The initiative will be carried out in two phases. The first will run from the highway to Benahavís and the second from the A7 to the coastal corridor.
In this new public leisure and sports facility, which will provide a backbone for the whole area and improve communications in this suburban area, street lighting and street furniture will be installed.
This action also contemplates the regeneration of the space with the planting of riverside trees such as elms, oleanders, willows or poplars, so that new green areas will be created and the Guadalmina river bank will be enhanced.
Once the project is tendered and executed, the works of the first phase will have an estimated execution period of five and a half months.
This new fluvial path adds a new attraction to this area, since the citizens will be able to recover for their enjoyment a space that until now was inaccessible. In addition, the construction system devised will favor the transit of both pedestrians and cyclists, so that healthy walks and bike rides can be made.
It should be recalled that the City Council carried out a similar project in the area of Arroyo Las Cañas next to the residential area of Selwo and Las Joyas. This project connected Lima Street, in the Selwo area, with the stretch of the Hacienda Beach-Los Granados del Mar coastal path, allowing from there access to the urban center through the coastal path that runs along the coast. Thanks to this action, the neighbors recovered a space for their enjoyment that until now was inaccessible, and also gained a new green area since 235 trees were planted, which allowed to enhance the banks of the stream.
