The City Council presents the new edition of ‘Estepona lives its streets’, which will offer a free concert of Chenoa

The event, which will take place from April 17 to 19, includes, among other activities, the XV Ruta de la Tapa, the XVI National Ham Cutters Contest, children’s events, musical shows, fashion shows and theater.

The councilor attached to the area of Culture and Festivals, Macarena Diánez, today presented a new edition of ‘Estepona, Vive sus Calles’, an event that aims to celebrate cultural and leisure activities for all audiences in different parts of the city center and the suburbs.

The municipal responsible has detailed the program of activities to be held from 17 to 19 April, including the XV Ruta de la Tapa ‘Saborea Estepona’, a good option to spend the day in the catering establishments, enjoying the gastronomic offer of the town at affordable prices.

In this edition will participate 46 bars and restaurants, both in the center of Estepona and the suburbs, which will offer a tapa and drink (beer, soft drink or water) for 3.50 euros and tapa and wine for 4.50 euros during the established hours: Friday April 17, from 20:00 to 23:00 hours; Saturday April 18, from 13:00 to 16:00 and from 20:00 to 23:00 hours; and Sunday April 19, from 13:00 to 16:00 hours.

People who take this gastronomic tour can pick up their passport at the Tourist Office in the Plaza de Las Flores, in the Mayor’s Office of Cancelada or in the participating bars and restaurants. Only three stamps are needed to vote for the best tapa and be eligible to win numerous gifts, including hotel nights, spa circuits, concert tickets, small appliances or gastronomic experiences, among others.

The establishments participating in the XV Ruta de la Tapa will compete for three prizes of 1,000, 500 and 250 euros in each category: best tapa chosen by customers and best tapa for the professional jury.

‘Estepona lives its streets’ will feature two other gastronomic events of relevance. The XI Cheese Fair ‘Popi’ Sabor a Málaga, which will take place from Friday to Sunday on Calle Real, and the XI National Contest of Ham Cutters Trophy ‘Popi, City of Estepona’ to be held on Sunday on Calle Real, from 12.00 to 16.00 hours.

For the little ones, on Saturday at 12.00 pm, there will be a children’s performance in the Plaza Antonia Guerrero, with clowns, magic and animation. On Sunday, they can enjoy from 12:00 to 18:00 hours, a children’s party with circus theme on the Paseo Marítimo, where there will be shows, gynkana, bouncy castles, tattoo workshops, Brilli-Brilli, face painting, balloon twisting, crafts and 360º platform. On the other hand, at 12:00 pm, will begin in Cancelada the children’s show ‘Beat & Melody’ Musical Mission!

As for shows, the mayor has highlighted the concert to be offered by the Scandinavian School Choir of La Moraleja, Madrid, on Friday, at 20:00 pm, in the Plaza Antonia Guerrero, and the Chamber Music concert ‘Sonatas from Venice’, by the Baroque Trio ‘Sonora Fugitiva’, at 22:00 pm, in the Plaza Casa Cañada, next to the Castillo de San Luis.

On Saturday, at 19:00 hours, there will be a flamenco singing performance by ‘El Patio, Aprende a Cantar’, in the Casa de las Tejerinas, and at 20:00 hours, the group ‘The Vintage Experience’ will offer in the Plaza Antonia Guerrero a musical journey through the melodies of the 50s and 60s. In the suburban area, at 20:00 hours will perform in concert Monica Garrido in the Diana Shopping Center, in the neighborhood Nueva Atalaya, while the group Kalima will perform in Cancelada at 21:30 hours.

The musical finale will be on Saturday with the free concert of Chenoa, at 22:00 hours, in the Plaza del Ajedrez. The singer and television presenter has become one of the most beloved voices of popular music in our country since his successful participation in Operation Triumph in 2001 The bar, at popular prices, will be managed by the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Carmen Coronada.

Macarena Diánez has indicated that ‘Estepona lives its streets’ also includes a theatrical performance of the group Farándula, on Friday at 20:00 hours, in the Botanical Park Orquidario, a flamenco fashion show in Cancelada, by the establishment ‘La Ganga’, on Saturday at 20:00 hours, which will be followed by a performance by the group Kalima (21.30 hours). On the other hand, on Saturday, at 20.00 hours, will perform Monica Garrido in the Diana Shopping Center in Nueva Atalaya.

The program of activities, which is already available at the Town Hall, at the Tourist Office, and at the Padre Manuel Cultural Center, is as follows:

Friday 17:

– From 12:00 to 22:00 hours, C/ Real. XI Cheese Fair ‘POPI’ Sabor a Málaga, an initiative promoted by the Consistory and the professional ham cutter José María Téllez ‘Popi’, with the collaboration of Diputación de Málaga, through the promotional brand ‘Sabor a Málaga’.

– From 20:00 to 23:00 hours, XV Ruta de la Tapa ‘Saborea Estepona’. Pick up your ‘Passport’ at the Tourist Office and registered establishments, and participate in the contest ‘The Best Tapa’. There are dozens of prizes.

– 20:00 hours. Botanical Orchid Park. The Theatre Group ‘Farándula’ performs the play ‘¡Tengo Trabajo!’, a very current comedy by Ignasi García Barba, which relates several situations around the world of work and its precariousness.

– 20:00 hours. Antonia Guerrero Square. Concert by the Choir of the Scandinavian School of La Moraleja, Madrid.

– 22:00 hours. Casa Cañada Square. Chamber Music Concert. The Baroque Trio ‘Sonora Fugitiva’ presents ‘Sonatas desde Venecia’.

Saturday 18:

– 12:00 noon, Plaza Antonia Guerrero. Children’s Performance ‘NariMagic’ with clowns and animation.

– From 12:00 to 22:00 hours, C/ Real. XI Cheese Fair ‘POPI’ Taste of Malaga.

– 19:00 hours. Montemayor Street, Barriada de Cancelada. Performance by the ‘Sólo Flamenco’ Dance School, directed by Ana Guerrero.

– 19:00 hours. Casa de las Tejerinas, Plaza de Las Flores. The Estepona Flamenco Association ‘El Patio’ presents the flamenco singing performance ‘El Patio, Canta’, under the artistic direction of Ana Fargas.

– 20:00 hours. Montemayor Street, Barriada de Cancelada. Flamenco Fashion Show of ‘La Ganga’. An evening full of color, elegance and pure Andalusian feeling.

– 20:00 hours. Antonia Guerrero Square. The Vintage Experience, in concert ‘DooWap & Heartbeats’. The spectacular Pin Up trio celebrates the golden age of unforgettable melodies through a musical journey through the 50’s and 60’s, full of romanticism, freshness and energy.
