The City Council promotes a 20,000 square meter green space in the eastern outskirts of the city

This new green area will have a sports court, bio-health equipment and two playgrounds for children

The Estepona City Council reports that the eastern area of the suburbs will have a new green space of 20,000 square meters in the sector of La Boladilla. The deputy mayor of the area of Development, Infrastructure and Tourism (FIT), Ana Velasco, explained that this new facility is being executed by the developer responsible for the development of the sector, after having the municipal authorizations.

The green area will have large naturalized meadows, shrub and ground cover species of Mediterranean origin, as well as a total of 300 trees of leafy and ornamental species, which will join existing specimens in this environment.

This green space, which will be completed in approximately six months, will also have a 1,000 square meter sports court and an area for bio-healthy circuits. In addition, two playgrounds will be created, which will have a surface area of approximately 1,000 square meters, and which will be equipped with inclusive equipment adapted for children with reduced mobility.

The project also contemplates a series of pedestrian paths, which will be made of printed concrete, lighting and street lighting, and an automatic irrigation network by remote control.

As for the planting that will be carried out, it should be noted that as an environmental reinforcement measure, polymers will be incorporated into the ground, a material that is especially absorbent of humidity and allows savings in water consumption of up to 50 percent.

This space is added to others that have been created in the city in the last decade and that have contributed to Estepona doubling the national average of square meters of green areas per inhabitant.

Among the green areas that have been promoted in the suburbs, one of 20,000 square meters in the area of Bel-Air, another of 10,000 square meters next to La Resinera and Las Joyas, the green meadow of 13,000 square meters that was executed in the access to Cancelada, the 26,000 square meters in the north of Cancelada, where a soccer field 7 and a recreation area with bio-healthy circuits are located, or the 5,000 square meters next to the Hospital of Estepona.
