The City Council tenders the works for the velodrome, which will have facilities for cycling, rugby and soccer.

This facility will be integrated into a periurban park of more than 20,000 square meters
The Estepona City Council is working on the project for the construction of a velodrome, as has been advanced by the mayor, José María García Urbano, an equipment that will expand the network of sports facilities that has been providing the city in the last decade. To this end, the Consistory has already put out to tender the works of this space that will have facilities for cycling, rugby and soccer.
The project being worked on includes a periurban park for the use of different sports, with a surface area of more than 20,000 square meters, which will have a sloping area for the use of cyclists (velodrome), as well as a state-of-the-art artificial grass field for the practice of sports such as rugby or 11-a-side soccer.
This oval-shaped cycling stadium will have bleachers divided into several levels that can initially be occupied by a thousand spectators. Toilets, changing rooms, gymnasium, offices and storage facilities will complete the planned service building.
The periurban cycling stadium park will be built on a plot of land for sports facilities in the northwest of the municipality of Estepona, next to the Monterroso stream and Camino de las Mesas. Previously it will be necessary to provide the land with the corresponding services and water, sewage and electricity connections.
The base bidding budget has been set at 3,947,870 euros (VAT included) and the execution period for the works is one year.
The measures chosen for the playing field were those specified in the Regulations on Sports Facilities and Spaces (NIDE), drawn up by the Higher Sports Council, which aim to define the regulatory, planning and design conditions to be considered in the project and construction of sports facilities.
In accordance with the stipulations of this regulation, we have chosen to design a soccer field that is valid for the practice of both sports: 11-a-side soccer and rugby. On the other hand, for the design of the cycling track, the measures established in the UCI Cycling Sport Regulations have been taken into account.
On the other hand, it should be noted that the Estepona City Council is currently processing a partial plan in this sector which, among other uses, plans the creation of some 300 subsidized housing units (VPO).
