The Estepona City Council asks the central government to get involved in solving the problems of the coastline.

The municipal government team has expressed its concern at the “neglect” of the central government with two issues that are now a priority for the municipality at the beginning of the summer season. Thus, on the one hand, the Consistory will return to claim the central government to undertake the necessary contributions of sand to the beaches for regeneration. At the same time, it will recall the urgency of executing the works of stabilization of the coastline to avoid these continuous damages, through the creation of dykes or submerged breakwaters.

In this sense, the City Council has already made an offer to carry out, always following the indications of the Directorate General of Coasts, definitive actions in this regard. This municipal proposal for the protection of the coast was made more than five years ago, being the City Council willing to assume its total cost from the municipal budgets. However, the central government has not even authorized the drafting of the corresponding projects.

On the other hand, it is worrying the negative impact that the “abandonment” of the AVE and the “railway disconnection” by the Government of Pedro Sánchez is generating in the economy of the province. The distrust of users in this service is abounding in mobility problems that accuses the Costa del Sol and is also a negative impact on the service sector and tourism with the approach of Easter and the summer season.

Therefore, from the City Council requests the central government involvement in such important issues to improve the daily lives of citizens.
