The works to add sidewalks and traffic calming measures to the Benahavís road are progressing at a good pace.

The City Council is carrying out this action, which is located in the section between the traffic circles of Mar y Monte and La Alquería and also includes lighting, trees and landscaping.
The Estepona City Council reports that the work to provide sidewalks and traffic calming measures to the Benahavís road, in its urban section, are progressing at a good pace. This is a long-awaited municipal initiative that is being taken once the city has obtained the transfer and ownership of this 2.3 kilometer long stretch. The General Directorate of Road Infrastructures of the Ministry of Development, Territorial Planning and Housing of the Regional Government of Andalusia approved a few months ago the act by which the ownership of this stretch of road has been modified, becoming the property of the municipality of Estepona.
The action consists of the improvement of this entire area, with the construction of a sidewalk to ensure pedestrian traffic between the two points (from the A-7 to the avenue of La Alqueria) and in turn allow the connection of the various developments that converge in the environment. At the same time, and in response to neighborhood requests, this road will be equipped with traffic calming measures and pedestrian walkways. Lighting, landscaping and tree planting will also be carried out.
The work is at 40 percent of completion and so far the clearing of the route, the construction of the esplanade, as well as the excavation and installation of the rainwater channeling, which is being finalized, have been carried out. Once these preliminary works are completed, construction of the sidewalk will begin.
The budget amounts to 1,358,000 euros and the works will take about four months to complete. The planning contemplates the compatibility of works and traffic in the area.
This is an action demanded by the neighbors of the area that now, once the ownership of the land within the municipality of Estepona has been formalized, has been met by the City Council.
