60 companies submit bids for the municipal project to provide lighting for the coastal corridor and suburban roads

The City Council points out that the large number of proposals submitted will make it possible to reduce the cost of the project, which is currently in the bidding phase.
The Estepona Town Hall has received almost 60 bids from companies interested in executing the first phases of the municipal project to provide lighting to roads in the outskirts and sections of the coastal path. The large number of proposals submitted during the bidding phase will allow lowering the base price of the action.
Specifically, the works under contract include the lighting of 11 access roads to urbanizations of Estepona as Isdabe, Cortes, Sun Beach, Avenida Flamenca, Boladilla, Nicola, Alberdina, La Cala, Monterroso, Guadalobón and Arroyo Vaquero. The objective here is to provide lighting to the stretches creating adequate visibility and safety conditions for pedestrians. The installation of 536 light points is planned.
A total of 27 proposals have been submitted for this intervention, initially budgeted at 761,386 euros.
On the other hand, the installation of streetlights powered by a photovoltaic system to illuminate 15 areas of the coastal corridor is also in the final phase of contracting. Specifically, work will be carried out in El Saladillo, Villacana, Hotel Ikos, Guadalmansa, El Velerín, Dominion Beach, El Castor, El Cristo, Doncella Beach, Hotel H-10, Guadalobón, Elba, Arroyo Vaquero, Horizon Beach and Buenas Noches. In these areas will be placed about 520 streetlights.
The base budget for this second action is 738,636 euros (VAT included) and has received 29 proposals from companies for its implementation.
The Deputy Mayor of Services and External Control, Blas Ruzafa, explains that this is an ambitious intervention program that aims to provide these areas with lighting in a way that prioritizes energy efficiency, so it has opted for both solar streetlights and LED type luminaires.
Public lighting represents an important fraction of the electricity consumption of public entities, hence the need to increase energy efficiency in this area in order to reduce the demand for electricity. At the same time, the City Council is already working on other actions to be included in the lighting plan for 2025, which are currently under study.
